Cuba Wins Silver in Women’s Cycling

Cubans Lisandra Guerra and Marlies Mejías came in second, just behind Canadians Kate O’Brien and Monique Sullivan in the Pan American team sprint in cycling on Thursday, July 16.

On the opening day of cycling competition the Cubans (34.813 seconds) failed to keep pace with the Canadian cycling champions (33.959).

Guerra and Mejías performed below their qualifying time of 34.414.

The bronze medal went to Colombians Diana Maria Rodriguez and Juliana Gaviria (34.663), who earlier defeated Mexican cyclists Frany Fong and Luz Gaxiola (35.254).
